Starbucks Reserve® Roastery Tokyo - Sakura Collection
Project
Every spring, Starbucks Reserve Roastery Tokyo releases a collection of exclusive merchandise to celebrate sakura, the cherry blossoms. This merchandise was intended to be differentiated from the sakura collection in core Starbucks stores, which typically features soft pink or purple designs.
The final collection was released exclusively at the Tokyo location in Spring 2024.

Design Components
I wanted to provide a fresh interpretation of sakura by leaning into bold accent colors, while still grounding the color palette in recognizably sakura pink tones. Italicized typography in an neon accent makes the design feel modern and energetic. Tiny coffee bean details and latte art-inspired marbling patterns are a nod back to the brand’s coffee heritage.
Merchandise Design
Using the design components established above, I created a range of sample products for the Tokyo Merchandise team to use for creating the final collection. I wanted to demonstrate how the toolkit components could be applied to create an interesting and varied collection of products, while still remaining cohesive.
