Starbucks Reserve Empire State Building
Merchandise Collection

Project

As part of their opening for the new Starbucks Reserve Empire State Building location, I designed a merchandise collection to celebrate both the iconic location and the brand’s coffee heritage. The design style drew from the building’s art deco elements as inspiration, and incorporated coffee leaves and coffee beans into the geometric design. The illustration elements were applied across a wide range of merchandise including mugs, tote bags, umbrellas, and ornaments.

The mug alone sold nearly 100 units per day during the opening week, and the collection was consistently the top seller in merchandise items.

Launch Campaign

Project

To promote the opening of the new store, our team designed a launch campaign that included promotional graphics, and art directed and designed a photoshoot. The first wave of graphic and photos were created using illustration and studio photography, since the store wasn’t finished. A second set of photos were shot in the completed space with products and talent. We wanted to capture touches of art deco-inspired glitz, while also feeling modern and sophisticated.
